The brief for this project in Dalveen was to create a large, low-maintenance barn-style family home that feels monumental in presence yet intimately connected to its rural surroundings. The home is organised into three distinct wings, each serving different functional zones, all arranged thoughtfully around central courtyards. The courtyards form the heart of the home — flooding interiors with natural light, framing picturesque views of the surrounding landscape, and encouraging a sense of connection between the spaces. Natural materials, simple forms, and generous proportions give the home both presence and practicality. The result is a bold yet highly liveable family residence, where Architectural drama and everyday functionality coexist seamlessly, and the connection to the serene rural setting is never far from view.
