ASHGROVE GRANNY FLAT
BILLY DAWSON ARCHITECTS
The brief for this home was to design a secondary dwelling for the parents of one of the existing home owners. This unusually large lot in Ashgrove allowed for the secondary dwelling to be well separated from the main family home by the existing tropical pool setting. The secondary dwelling has been cleverly designed to be perched above a double garage and overhung to create a shaded BBQ area near the pool for common use. The building forms and use of materials have been carefully considered to create the illusion of an elevated treehouse structure that is suspended in the air to maximise privacy and enhance the views to the pool and the surrounding site trees.
